Green River
Palmer-Kanaskat State Park to Flaming Geyser, Class IV
16 miles - 6 hours, April - May
(Also rafting in Oct.-Nov. when heavy rains occur)

No turning back after you enter the deep Gorge and drop through the "Nozzle" and loads of other rapids. Raftable Water levels are dam controlled and unpredictable at best, and make this trip a rare treat. There is no way to predict when the Green River will be at a level appropriate for rafting and usually occurs after much rain has fallen for several days consecutively. But when the right conditions exist it is technical and demanding, a spectacular adventuresome experience.

Reserve this River now!

Green River Rendezvous Instructions

Where to Meet:
Your guides will meet you in Flaming Geyser State Park. Allow one hour drive time from Seattle to the park. From Interstate 405 take highway 169 (Maple Valley Highway) and go two miles south of the town of Black Diamond. (Watch the speed limit!) Here you will find the sign FLAMING GEYSER STATE PARK and drive west on S.E. 352nd St. (Green Valley Road). Continue west on Green Valley Road approximately three miles. Take a sharp left at the intersection at the bottom of the hill. Drive across the one-lane bridge into Flaming Geyser State Park approximately one mile and look for the River Rider guides and vehicle there. Use our detail map which is not to scale as well as a Washington State Road Atlas for planning and aiding your drive. We’ll have your wetsuit/booties waiting for you from our “rolling rental shop” (no presizing needed!) so just show up with a swimsuit or T-shirt/running shorts (something that can get wet) under your street clothes and we’ll take care of you from there when you get signed in.

Lunch:
We provide a variety of food at a lunch stop along the side of the river which will satisfy the carnivores and vegetarians alike. Let us know if there is special dietary requirements you have and we'll try to accommodate you.
